RECEPTIONIST

The Cumberland Animal Clinic is seeking a highly motivated experienced Receptionist.  The Receptionist is an integral part of the day to day operations of the clinic. They are responsible for greeting clients; differentiating routine cases from emergency cases; scheduling appointments; entering client, patient, and financial data into the computer; generating invoices and explaining them to clients; processing payments; and managing the retrieval and storage of medical records.

 

A strong ability to multi task and stay calm in a fast paced environment is necessary. The candidate will have the ability to lift 40lbs.  The candidate should expect to spend nearly all of their workdays at the front desk interacting with the public. The position requires patience and a pleasant manner. Ideally the candidate will possess computer skills and have had cashier and related front-office work experience.

 

This position is full time from 8:00am to 6:00pm four days a week with half day Saturday rotations.  There is some flexibility in which days of the week are scheduled. We offer Health and Dental insurance, Paid Time Off, Holidays and employee discounts.  Salary is commensurate with abilities.

VETERINARY TECHNICIANS

Veterinary technicians must have been educated in the care and knowledge of animal science, medicine, and husbandry, including a basic knowledge of pharmacology and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of accurate drug and fluid doses. They must be able to successfully restrain animals, complete clinical laboratory tests, use multiple radiology techniques, administer and monitor animals under anesthesia, assist in surgery, and perform dental procedures. Veterinary technicians must be licensed to practice in Maine. In Maine a Veterinary Technician means a person who has completed a minimum of 2 years in a college program that is certified according to the standards adopted by the American Veterinary Medical Association's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities or an equivalent program, as determined by the board, and who has passed an examination prescribed by the board. All veterinary technicians work under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.

VETERINARIAN ASSISTANT

The Veterinary Assistant will divide their time between assisting the receptionist, helping doctors with physical examinations, dispensing medications helping veterinary technicians position patients for and process radiographs, prepare patients for surgery, provide nursing and comfort care, and perform treatments or basic laboratory diagnostic tests.  veterinary assistants will help to feed, water, and examine pets for signs of illness, disease, or injury.  Veterinary assistants will also be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting cages and work areas and sterilizing laboratory and surgical equipment as necessary.
